Franklin Township Announce New Wi-Fi Hotspots

Franklin Township is pleased to announce that three neighborhood wi-fi hotspots will be made open to the public in collaboration with Carlisle Local Schools and Franklin City Schools to assist residents who lack internet connectivity at home.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the switch to remote learning and working by many residents of Franklin Township has only intensified the need for convenient access to broadband services for those in our area. Franklin Township was afforded the opportunity to be able to provide this service to our community under the Federal CARES Act.

Three community hotspots will be located throughout the township. The first of which is operational at the Franklin Township Administrative Offices, 418 Fairview Dr. in Carlisle. Users should feel free to utilize the back parking lot when taking advantage of this service. Other hotspot locations will be announced when they are operational.

Public hotspots can be used by anyone living in the community free of charge. These hotspots will be in place until May, 2021, at which time, Franklin Township will re-evaluate the program. It is estimated that each hotspot will accommodate approximately 50 users at a time. Depending on many external variables, the ranges can differ, but each location has been selected because of the available parking nearby.
